John Lundstram made the move to Rangers following the expiry of his Sheffield United contract, and Blades striker Oli McBurnie has been singing the praises of his ex-teammate.
Lundstram signed a three-year deal with the Scottish champions and has Champions League football to look forward to next season.
Former Ger, John Fleck played a big role in the midfielder’s decision to join Rangers, as well as McBurnie.
“He’s a top player. John can play anywhere in midfield,” McBurnie, told Rangers blog Four Lads Had A Dream.
“He’s a midfield engine, excellent with both feet and has a great range of passing with an eye for a goal as well.
“He’s a natural born winner. As a lad from Liverpool, I think we all know what they are like, passion wise. Demanding of his teammates both in training and in games, but one of the best blokes you will meet.
“He will be a big miss in the Sheffield United dressing room.”
Lundstram decided to run down his Blades contract, making 28 Premier League appearances in his last season with the Yorkshire club.
Rangers fan McBurnie has admitted that he’s looking forward to seeing the 27-year-old in a blue shirt.
“Very much. He had mentioned the interest to me a while back and I’ve been persuading him every day since (once it was known he was leaving Sheffield United).
“That’s how highly I rate him. To be fair he didn’t need much persuasion because I think as soon as he spoke to the manager and realised how big the club was, he was sold.
“So I’m looking forward to watching him play for the teddies.”
The Teddy Bears are confident of signing the Scotland international with a £15million bid in the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
McBurnie enjoyed a decent first campaign in the Premier League.
He scored six league goals as the Blades enjoyed a brilliant season, finishing ninth in the table.
However, his displays dropped significantly in the 2020/21 season, along with most of his teammates.
He scored just one goal all season as Sheffield United were relegated to the Championship.
