Newcastle United are not looking to sell Isaac Hayden this summer, with Southampton and Watford both interested in the midfielder.
This has been reported by The Athletic who say the Magpies have no intention of listening to offers for Hayden.
The 26-year-old still has five years left on his current contract at Newcastle and has been one of their most important players in recent seasons.
Hayden made 24 Premier League appearances last term, picking up eight yellow cards.
The former England U21 international missed ten matches last season through injury as his side finished 12th in the table.
Interest in Hayden is thought to be high, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Saints are eyeing up a move for the combative midfielder, alongside The Sun who claim that PL new boys Watford are interested.
Elsewhere, former Leeds United attacker Noel Whelan has claimed that Newcastle fan favourite Allan Saint-Maximin would be an ideal replacement for Richarlison if the Brazilian leaves Everton.
Saint-Maximin joined Newcastle in 2019 on a six-year deal. He was involved in seven PL goals from his 25 outings last season. Whelan believes that the 24-year-old would “excite” the Everton fans:
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Saint-Maximin is very direct. A player with that kind of explosive ability, like Adama Traore.
“Somebody that can open up gaps, skip past players, bring Calvert-Lewin, Rodriguez and other players into play.
“This is the sort of player that if they are going to lose a Richarlison you’ve got to replace them with.
“He’s somebody that is going to excite the Everton faithful. Bring that kind of life back, that edge-of-the-seat football player.
“He’s going to take their minds off the fact they’ve lost a Brazil number nine. However, he would be a player that you’ve got to look at injuries.
“You’ve got to see the fact that he went through a few niggles, a long spell out at Newcastle.
“He would be well worth a punt if you keep that player fit. He would definitely bring some excitement to Goodison Park.”
