Hunter Reese and Sem Verbeek advanced to their first ATP Tour doubles final on Friday evening when they defeated Mackenzie McDonald and Sam Querrey 6-4, 7-6(3) in the Mifel Open semi-finals.

The American-Dutch duo saved five of the six break points they faced while converting two of their four opportunities to advance after one hour and 20 minutes.

Entering the week, Reese and Verbeek owned a combined four tour-level match wins. Now they will play Hans Hach Verdugo and John Isner or Taylor Fritz and Nicholas Monroe for the trophy.

At the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag, top seeds Tomislav Brkic and Nikola Cacic eased past Croatians Ivan Sabanov and Matej Sabanov 6-1, 6-2 to make their second tour-level final of the season.

The Bosnian-Serbian pair, who won the Argentina Open title in March, claimed 92 per cent (24/26) of their first-service points and broke five times to advance in 57 minutes. They will face David Vega Hernandez and Fernando Romboli in the championship match after the Spanish-Brazilian pair defeated Radu Albot and Pedro Martinez 6-4, 6-7(8), 10-7.

Elsewhere, at the Swiss Open Gstaad, Polish duo Szymon Walkow and Jan Zielinski overcame Jakub Paul and Leandro Riedi 4-6, 7-6(3), 10-2 to advance to the final. They will next meet either Marc-Andrea Huesler and Dominic Stephan Stricker or Benoit Paire and Arthur Rinderknech.
