Early trouble at PSG as Lionel Messi shows frustrations with Pochettino after being hauled off vs Lyon

A concerning scene for all associated with Paris Saint-German was forthcoming during the club’s meeting with Olympique Lyonnais this evening.

Icardi at the death

Mauricio Pochettino’s star-studded squad returned to Ligue 1 action a short time ago.

After stuttering to a disappointing 1-1 stalemate with Club Brugge during the week, PSG welcomed the aforementioned Lyon to the French capital, in search of an immediate bounce-back result.

In turn, when it was the visitors who went on to open the scoring at the Parc des Princes early in the 2nd-half, tensions quickly began to mount amongst the home crowd.

PSG’s quality, though, in the end proved telling.

First, Neymar, after being felled in the Lyon penalty area, dusted himself down to coolly pull the hosts level from the spot with 66 minutes on the clock:

Then, with just seconds remaining in injury-time, Mauro Icardi proved himself the hero, rising high to nod home Kylian Mbappe’s delightful dinked cross, maintaining PSG’s flawless start to the Ligue 1 season in the process:

As outlined above, though, whilst Sunday evening, all told, proved a positive one for the Parisians, one concerning moment was also forthcoming 15 minutes from time.

The situation in question came about when Lionel Messi, still in search of his first goal in PSG colours, was surprisingly hauled off by Mauricio Pochettino.

The 6-time Ballon d’Or winner was evidently less than impressed with the decision, as, in making his way past his new boss on the touchline, Messi appeared to reject the efforts of his fellow countryman to shake his hand:

The 34-year-old was subsequently spotted looking altogether out of sorts on the hosts’ bench, too, amid a less than straightforward start to life in the French capital:
