The seven players who could leave Manchester United as part of clear-out

A report from the Sun over the weekend suggests that Manchester United could part with as many as seven stars in January, as part of a clear-out.

Man United’s squad

The Red Devils of course have a fairly large squad with cover in basically every position.

That, however, does not necessarily mean that the cover in question is up to scratch, or that the starting players in some areas are even good enough.

The main example of this comes in midfield. All of Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic can technically be used as defensive midfielders.

However, none are really good enough in that role, especially when played alongside Paul Pogba, whose defensive ability is questionable.

As a result, it would probably be wise for Man United to move on some of their deadwood in the middle of the park, before bringing in quality performers, such as a top-class no.6.

Man United clear-out?

And, as mentioned above, a report from the Sun this weekend suggests that the Old Trafford hierarchy are indeed eyeing a clear-out of sorts.

It is claimed that the Manchester outfit are planning to clean house starting from January, with as many as seven players up for grabs.

The players named in the piece are Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles:
