Best captain picks for GW6

A key part of playing Fantasy Premier League is choosing your captain for every game week.

The player you select from your starting eleven as your captain will see his points total doubled from that round of fixtures. And if he is not involved in any way, your vice-captain for the week will instead have his normal points total doubled.

Said boost in points can often make or break your gameweek and see you move up or down the FPL ranks a fair bit.

So, picking the best captain each week is a decision you should give considerable thought to. And at 101, we are here to help, picking out the best three captain choices from each week.

Here are our picks for gameweek 6.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United (12.7)

Since he signed for Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo’s price has shot up to 12.7, making him the most expensive player on FPL.

From what we have seen so far, though, the Portuguese is most certainly worth it and is another superb captain choice this week.

Ronaldo has already scored three in two league games this term and, despite playing two or three less games than most other players in the PL, has the 5th-highest xG in the division at present.

Man United are also at home to Aston Villa this week, whose defensive record has not been that great this season.

Dean Smith’s side have conceded seven in five and are very much likely to concede vs United at the weekend.

Michail Antonio, West Ham (7.9)

The 2021/22 FPL MVP is back in action this weekend after missing out vs Man United due to suspension.

Michail Antonio is the heart of West Ham’s attack and has already scored four and assisted four in the English top-flight this seaosn.

Antonio also has the 3rd-highest xG and the 4th highest xA in the league currently, despite playing one less game than most of the people above him on these lists.

West Ham are also taking on a Leeds side who have one of the worst defences in the league in 2021/22.

The Whites have an xGA of 10.79 from just five games. Only Newcastle and Arsenal have a higher xGA total.

As a result, at least one Antonio goal contribution vs Leeds does look very, very likely.

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool (12.6)

The final captain option you may wish to explore this week is Mohamed Salah.

Salah has the highest xG in the PL at present and is having a sensational start to the campaign.

And, whilst Liverpool are facing a fairly defensively sound Brentford this week, Salah is one of the few players you would consider pretty fixture proof.

It is also worth noting that Crystal Palace had a fairly low xGA before they faced Liverpool last week, yet the Reds still put three past them and Salah scored.
