The world of rugby ploughs on as the Omicron variant of Covid-19 continues to take hold.

But, as has been the case of late, the Gallagher Premiership is experiencing relatively little disruptions while the URC is having a few more problems.

This weekend, though, also heralds the return of a full programme of Alliaz Premier 15s fixtures.

So there is plenty to enjoy.

United Rugby Championship

The Welsh derby between the Scarlets and Dragons was postponed earlier this week due to a number of cases in the Dragons’ camp.

It leaves the fixture list looking a little bare but Cardiff and the Ospreys are both travelling up to Scotland for fixtures.

There’s also an all-Ireland derby to get your teeth stuck into.

Saturday, January 8

Edinburgh v Cardiff 3:00pm – Premier Sports, BBC Wales

Glasgow v Ospreys 5:15pm – Premier Sports, S4C

Munster v Ulster 7:35pm – Premier Sports

Gallagher Premiership

A full round of Premiership fixtures on the way this weekend.

Harlequins v Exeter is the pick of the bunch on Saturday. Saracens v Gloucester will be worth monitoring as well, though.

Wasps v Leicester is comfortably the showpiece game on Sunday.

League leaders Bristol welcome Gloucester-Hartpury on Saturday lunch time and the hosts will be expecting to consolidate their place at the top of the tree.

On Sunday, things are looking a bit mismatched as second-placed Quins take on Worcester, who currently reside in eighth.

Similarly, third-placed Saracens are welcoming bottom of the league DMP Durham.
